Dear Sir,
I visited your site and found it useful. I am working as a forensic scientist at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad, India. From your vast experience in the field of forensic science, I believe you can give a helping hand in finding the following details.
As a part of case examination i had received some gas cartridges with head stamp of HILTI (German make; used for bolt driving - as per literature). Can you give me some more information about HILTI brand gas cartridges.
I am interested in doing a post doctoral work in the field of forensic science, can you give me some useful websites or interested persons.
With regards,
Yours sincerely,
Johny .

I found this site very interesting. However, there are questions that I belive need to be answered.
1. Brass used in reloading will contain the imprints of both firearms. How do you determine which gun fired it last?
2. Although it is not possible to put a price on human life, the undo expenditure of funds to solve just one murder is questionabale. How do you reconcile the saying of B. Franklin "Those who are willing to give up liberty for safety, deserve neither liberty or safety"?
3. Barrels tooled at the same time on the same machine and cut to length, do they not have the same micro groves?
I would apprectiate a response on these questions.

Excellent forum, lots of fascinating info for a recreational shooter like me and must be very useful for professionals.
You may find it interesting to know that since the British government took away the right from British people to legally own modern cartridge pistols that gun related crime here has increased very significantly. Proof that draconian gun laws do not improve public safety.
It is a bit strange that even a single shot 22 pistol cannot be legally owned in Britain but any type of black powder revolver from a Colt Walker to a Ruger Old Army can be legally owned.

enrolled in the army on-line small arms course. had
ten years in the military where i tried to shoot every
day of the week, 50 rounds a day. right now have settled
on 45auto as the only practical carry round. seen too
many 9mm failures to stop people. love a 357 for hunting
but very few people can handle the recoil and muzzle
blast from a typical 4 inch carry gun.

I am trying to get some information on hollowpoint bullets.
In 1997, my uncle was supposed to have shot himself in the chest with a 38 hollowpoint. I was told the bullet somehow ended up lodged in the ribs, ricocheting or something to that affect. My sister cleaned the blood where he supposed to have shot himself in the chair. She said their was a small drop on the chair, and a small drop on the side of the chair.
I have asked that this case be reopened due to the fact that my uncle never had an autopsy performed because the wife said it was "against her religion." They were separated at the time and not living together. There had been numerous 911 calls made over a period of time to the police dept. over harassment to my uncle from the wife. My uncle had emphazima and was a manic depressive, but I do not believe he killed himself. (More to the story that I can go into) even so, was just wondering what your opinion is on the hollowpoint and suicide.
Thanks for your help.

Fascinating site. I'm a writer, working on a mystery. If a gun, say it's a Glock, is thrown into a river and retrieved a year later is it harder to match it with a bullet previously fired from it? Would there be some kind of corrosion from having been in the water? Love to hear your opinion on this if you have time. Many thanks.
